In July, representatives of the National Council on Disability (NCD) visited CCS as part of a study on inclusive employment, sheltered workshops, and sub-minimum wage employment nationwide. CCS is featured in From the New Deal to the Real Deal: Joining the Industries of the Future, recently released by NCD.

The section on Vermont and CCS begins on page 81 of the full report, and  notes that CCS’ supported employment program Way2Work, “aims to serve as a bridge between talented workers with disabilities and local employers in the community that it serves.”

In the big picture, NCD emphasized the importance of a fully inclusive workforce nationwide, noting, “employment and labor force participation of people with disabilities remains of great significance to the overall health of our nation’s economy and society. According to the United Nations, countries worldwide forego up to seven percent of Gross Domestic Product due to the exclusion of people with disabilities.”
